Mike Eichler is a lecturer in the School of Social Work at SDSU, Executive Director of the COC, and creator of the Consensus Organizing Model.  He holds a Master's degree in social work from the University of Pittsburgh and has been involved in community organizing for over 30 years.  Mike is a former President of the Consensus Organizing Institute, a leading non-profit in the field of community organizing.  Mike founded the COC at SDSU in 1999 and has an active role in the management of all its programs.

A San Diego native, Jessica, earned both her Bachelor's degree in Social Work and Master's in Administrative Social Work from San Diego State University (SDSU). She is a lecturer in the School of Social Work at SDSU, the Assistant Director of the Consensus Organizing Center and has over 8 years grant writing and program development experience with the foster youth population. In 2003, Jessica worked ambitiously to fund a program, formerly known as Fostering Community Connections (FCC), which gears foster youth to high school graduation and post-secondary education. Over the next few years, Jessica established a strong relationship with the Alex Smith Foundation to create the Alex Smith Foundation SDSU Guardian Scholars Program (ASGS).  This program is the most comprehensive scholarship in SDSU history. Jessica continues to look for innovative ways to create more outlets and advocate for foster youth for better opportunities.

Jen Henry, MSW came to San Diego in 1999 to obtain her bachelor in social work from SDSU. Throughout her undergraduate program and various internships Jen realized her passion for working with communities. Upon graduation, Jen was accepted into the Price Community Builder Fellowship Program with the Consensus Organizing Center and worked in City Heights before returning for her Master's degree in Administrative Social Work at SDSU. Jen has been affiliated with the Consensus Organizing Center since 2004 and currently manages all aspects of The Step-Up Program. Jen very active in various professional organizations such as the National Association of Social Workers, Mid-City CAN, and the El Cajon Boulevard Business Improvement Association.

Jennifer is originally from Palmdale, California and is a first-generation college student. Right after graduating high school, Jennifer moved to San Diego to attend San Diego State University where she obtained both her Bachelor's degree in Social Work and Master of Social Work. During her final year of undergraduate school Jennifer applied to the Price Community Builder Program and was selected. This competitive program provided the opportunity to gain hands-on social work experience in the City Heights community and a generous scholarship for graduate school. Throughout Jennifer's undergraduate and graduate schooling, Jennifer has gained countless experiences with foster youth, inner-city, at-risk youth, and promoting parental involvement in education. Currently, she is a program manager at the Consensus Organizing Center, overseeing the High School Component of the Alex Smith Foundation SDSU Guardian Scholars Program.  In addition, Jennifer mentors the Year 2 Alex Smith Guardian Scholars at SDSU.

Drew Lautemann, JD

Drew Lautemann received his Juris Doctor degree from California Western School of Law in April 2009.  A native of Woodson, Illinois, Drew moved to San Diego after receiving his Bachelor's degree in political science at Southern Illinois University in Carbondale.  He was the recipient of the U.S. Supreme Court Justice Anthony Kennedy scholarship at California Western, which allowed him to pursue a career working in the public interest.  Drew's work experience includes fighting to reform the rule of law in Latin America with Proyecto ACCESO, interning with U.S. Congresswoman Susan A. Davis, and volunteering with Asociacion CEPIA to improve the lives of underprivileged children in Costa Rica's Guanacaste region.  While interning with the Consensus Organizing Center last year, he developed the Legal Path program and is now working as a Program Manager with the Center.  Legal Path will begin its first year this spring.

Maricruz Pat Carrillo is a first generation college senior studying social work at San Diego State University.  She moved to San Diego from Perris, California three years ago to pursue an undergraduate degree in social work with a minor in Spanish.  She is currently a member of the Association of Chicanas Activists and a volunteer with the organization Raices Unidas.  She will graduate in May 2010 and plans to pursue her Master’s degree in forensic social work.
