Step-Up Alumni Scholarship In 2008, the Hervey Family approached the COC to kick off an annual scholarship to support our Step-Up Program alumni. The goal of the scholarship is to financially and emotionally support Step-Up students attending any accredited school full-time. Step-Up alumni are now in colleges throughout the United States, including University California Berkeley, University California Santa Barbara, Chico State, San Diego State University, Mesa Community College, University of California San Diego, Florida International, University California Riverside, and California State University Northridge. Every year, the Hervey Family Fund at the San Diego Foundation contributes $25,000 to each college grade level, totaling $100,000.Every summer, Step-Up Alumni apply and can receive up to $5,000 for on-campus housing, tuition and books. Program Manager Jen Henry, works closely with the Hervey Scholarship recipients throughout the school year to monitor their progress and assist them in adjusting to college life.
