Jennifer Cosio, MSW, PPSC

Jennifer Cosio earned both her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Social Work, with a Pupil Personnel Services Credential, at San Diego State University (SDSU). During her final year of undergraduate school Jennifer applied to the Price Community Builder Program and was selected. This competitive program provided the opportunity to gain hands-on administrative social work experience in the City Heights community and a generous scholarship for graduate school at SDSU. Upon her MSW graduation in 2008, Jennifer was hired at the Consensus Organizing Center to manage the Rise Up Program. A few years later, she was promoted to Senior Program Manager where she managed all the higher education programs, which include the Rise Up and the Step Up Program. Jennifer serves as the the lead organizer and has trained numerous community members in Consensus Organizing. In addition, she has raised almost a million dollars in grant money for the Consensus Organizing Center’s operation and program support. In July 2015, Jennifer became the third Executive Director in the Consensus Organizing Center’s history. Jennifer is also a lecturer and field faculty in the School of Social Work at SDSU, and a Faculty-In-Residence where she is committed to students in the residential community and their learning outside of the classroom setting.


Dr. Jessica Robinson, MSW

Lead Trainer
Dr. Jessica Robinson, the immediate past Executive Director, was trained in Consensus Organizing by Michael Eichler, creator of the model, and chosen by him to spearhead the work of his organizing center when he stepped down from his role as Executive Director in 2012. Dr. Robinson has more than 16 years of experience in administration, program development, and grant writing for programs involving at-risk and underserved populations. Dr. Robinson was also a lecturer, the Undergraduate Curriculum Coordinator, and Student Advisor in the School of Social Work at SDSU for several years before her current role as the Interim Associate Dean for Academic Affairs/Assistant Dean for Student Affairs in the College of Health and Human Services. Currently, Dr. Robinson is still connected to the COC as the Lead Trainer. In this role, Dr. Robinson serves as the lead trainer while overseeing the COC’s training and community engagement component. In addition to her work at SDSU, Dr. Robinson is a lecturer at the University of San Diego’s Nonprofit Leadership and Management Masters Program. A San Diego native, Dr. Robinson earned her Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Master’s in Administrative Social Work, and Doctorate in Educational Leadership from San Diego State University.


Drew Lautemann, JD, LLM

Drew Lautemann received his Juris Doctor degree from California Western School of Law in 2009 and his Master of Laws degree from the University of San Diego School of Law in 2010. A native of Woodson, Illinois, Drew moved to San Diego to study law after his undergraduate studies at Southern Illinois University in Carbondale. As a Program Manager with the Consensus Organizing Center from 2009-2014, Drew created Legal Path and A.I.M. for Law, two programs to educate first-generation and inner-city students about the legal profession and motivate them to pursue careers in the law. In June 2014, Drew became the Pro Bono & Public Service Coordinator at California Western School of Law, but he remains connected with the COC through his work with A.I.M. for Law and teaching the course Community Organizing & Problem Solving at SDSU.


Gemma Aque, MSW

Workshop Coordinator

Gemma Aque received her bachelor’s degree in Liberal Studies with a minor in Sociology from California State University, San Marcos in 2011. In May 2017, Gemma received her Master’s in Social Work with a concentration in Administration and Community Development. She currently works at the Academy for Professional Excellence as a Roadmap to Recovery Coordinator where she oversees the daily operations of the Roadmap to Recovery Program, which is a series of educational classes designed for individuals living with or have experienced mental health challenges. Her past experiences include working with children and youth as an Activity Leader for Harmonium and as an intern for North County Serenity House which serves women and women with children experiencing alcohol and substance use. In her most recent role, Gemma interned at the Step Up program at the Consensus Organizing Center (COC) as the Step Up Program Manager. Her duties included recruiting youth, mentoring Step Up participants, supervising teaching assistants, and overseeing the daily operations of the program. As the College Workshop Coordinator, Gemma is excited to continue the work and mission of the COC to cultivate community leaders.
