Consensus Organizing Center

Mission Statement

The Consensus Organizing Center, a project of the School of Social Work at San Diego State University, works to develop a new generation of grass-roots community leaders through education and training in the Consensus Organizing Model. The Consensus Organizing Model is a method of community organizing that focuses on finding and developing areas of mutual self-interest between community stakeholders, as opposed to traditional conflict-based organizing strategies.

Opportunities

The Consensus Organizing Center provides valuable and effective training on the Consensus Organizing Model. These forums provide community members, residents, business owner, faith-based representatives, non-profits, and politicians an opportunity to learn how to utilize the Consensus Organizing Model. The center also offers great volunteering opportunities which typically start and end with the school semesters, however, we sometimes have summer opportunities.
